Spark With the Lark

As an energy industry blogger and Twitter power user, I have several energy company twitter accounts in my Twitter Following list.

If I were to rank the overall quality of Twitter posts by these companies (pertains to oil and gas producers, pipeline owners and operators and service companies), collectively, on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being Most Effective, I would give it a 5. Right in the middle. Why?

Well, a few energy companies really get Twitter and post relevant but occasional content, most have an account but don’t know what to tweet so mostly just retweet industry stuff from others, and the rest follow the standard hit or miss approach of mass tweeting as part of overall media communications strategy, which sometimes results in unanticipated outcomes. Like this one (May 6, 2013) from Chevron, below.

Any regular twitter user will instantly see the awkward humor…
